The Federation of SaintChristopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis is represented in Switzerland by an Honorary Consul-General in Zurich, Mr. Christian H. Kalin, with area of responsibility for all of Switzerland except Geneva, and by an Honorary Consul in Geneva, Mr. Steven Goldstein.
The Consulate-General in Zurich takes care of consular matters, the diplomatic relations with Switzerland, and the economic promotion for St. Kitts and Nevis primarily in continental Europe. The Consulate in Geneva takes care of consular matters and is involved in following matters of interest to St. Kitts and Nevis at the United Nations Office and the other International Organizations based in Geneva.
St. Kitts and Nevis has been an independent democratic country since 1983. It is a well-functioning democracy based on the British Parliamentary system, and as a member of the Commonwealth, is represented by the Queen of England as Head of State. With its Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas having been re-elected for an unprecedented fourth term in office in 2011, it is also one of the most stable countries in the Caribbean.
The Federation is a member of the United Nations (UN), the Organization of American States (OAS), the British Commonwealth, Caricom and many other international organizations. The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank has its Headquarters in St. Kitts.
